I will be the first to admit it, cooking fish can be intimidating. But I promise you that this is probably the easiest way to cook fish. Cooking the fish in aluminum foil is going to help lock in the moisture, so the salmon won’t be dry.
It’s definitely one of my family favorite way to enjoy fish and we hope that you will give this a try with your family.
Ingredients for easy-oven baked salmon
- 2 lbs. of salmon
- olive oil
- salt
- black pepper
- lemon slices
- *optional-sprigs of dill
Prepping and cooking salmon
Clean the salmon. Pat it dry. Check for any bones if you are planning to serve this to kids.
Place salmon skin down in the middle of a square piece of parchment paper with a larger sheet of aluminum paper underneath. Be sure to use enough aluminum foil to wrap around the entire piece of salmon.
Drizzle olive oil on top of fish with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Add slices of lemon on the top. To add more aromatic you can add 2-3 sprigs of dill.
Now, fold the foil over the fish and make sure to have no gap, so the moisture can’t escape the package.
Bake at 375 degrees F. for 12-15 minutes or until the fish is firm. (Cooking times will vary on the thickness of your salmon, so I recommend checking it a few minutes early if you have a thinner cut of salmon).
You can test for doneness by inserting a fork or knife in the thick part of the salmon and twisting it a bit; the fish should be opaque and flake easily.
Once the salmon is cooked, take it out of the oven, open the foil, and let the steam out. Cool for 2-3 minutes and then finish off with a squeeze of lemon juice.
I really do hope you will give this easy oven-baked salmon recipe a try. Enjoy!
