Holiday Peppermint Oreo Bark

During this time of the year, I usually go to the store and grab myself a bar of peppermint bark to celebrate the start of the holiday season. This year instead of buying them, I thought it would be fun to make my own peppermint bark with a twist and add a layer of crushed Oreo between the dark chocolate and white chocolate. In this post, I will also share two ways to gift these delicious treats.

Ingredients:

• 10 oz. of dark chocolate
• 20 oz. of white chocolate
• 1/2 cup of crushed Oreo cookies
• 1/2 cup of crushed peppermint candy
• 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract
• 2 mini baking pan 9.5 in X 6.5 in

The first thing you want to do is melt your chocolate. You can go to our post here, and read about the two different methods on how to melt chocolate.

Melt the dark chocolate first since it’s the first layer. Pour about 1/3 cup of dark chocolate into the pan and spread evenly. If you can still see the bottom of the pan add more chocolate. Now, Sprinkle 1/4 cup of crushed Oreo on top. You can add more if you wish. Now place the tray in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

While you are waiting for the chocolate to harden you can melt the white chocolate, and then add the peppermint extract and crushed candy cane to the white chocolate and mix until well combined.

After 10 minutes take out the dark chocolate and pour about 1 cup of white chocolate over the dark chocolate, use a spatula to spread evenly. Add more white chocolate if needed. Top it off with some crushed peppermint candy. Now place the tray in the fridge for another 30 minutes for the chocolate to set. And that’s it!

Once they come out of the fridge you can break them into pieces and bag them up or leave them in the tray and give it away as a whole sheet of chocolate. Either way, you can give them as a gift for the holidays or keep it for yourself. We also included two adorable gift tags so you don’t have to worry about it.
