I hope you enjoy this quick and easy Thai Basil beef stir fry! This has been my go-to meal for my family. My husband served a mission in Thailand for our Church when he was younger, and the thing he misses the most is the delicious food there! So I set out on a journey to make a Thai dish for him. I stumbled across a chicken Thai basil recipe on youtube and modified it with some beef instead. You can use chicken or beef, either way, you’ll have a delicious dinner!
What You’ll Need for Thai Basil Beef Stir Fry
Make sure to get some Thai Basil when you go to the store because it’s the star of the dish! Did you know that there are different types of basils? I had no idea until I started making this dish. Sweet basil can be used but it won’t give the same aroma and taste that Thai Basil does. So, I highly suggest tracking down some Thai Basil.
The sauces that you need to make Thai Basil Beef Stir Fry are: oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, Golden Mountain Seasoning Sauce, and Sesame oil. You can typically find these sauces at your local Asian store. I like to measure out each sauce and put them all in one bowl. This ensures correct measurement and fewer dishes!
First, you will want to make a garlic and pepper paste. I suggest using a mortar and pestle, however, if you do not have one, mince the garlic and pepper together. Cut the beef into thin slices and mix in a tablespoon of Sesame oil. In a small bowl, mix the 3 sauces (ouster, seasoning sauce, and dark soy sauce) together and add a teaspoon of sugar to the sauce. In another bowl, take the leaves from the Thai Basil and be sure to give them a good rinse.
