When the chill air arrives, be sure to have your apple cider and spices ready to make this delicious and hot drink, because hot spiced apple cider = the epitome of fall and winter. The smell of the apple cider and spices warming up on the stovetop is heavenly. It’s such a cozy and warming drink.

I recently purchased Ina Garten’s new cookbook, Modern Comfort Food, and this drink was literally the first recipe in the book. I’ve been a big fan of Barefoot Contessa for as long as I can remember and have always loved watching her cooking shows. I was so happy to hear Ina releasing this cookbook right before the holidays. I can’t just wait to make all the recipes, especially during the colder months. Everyone wants to enjoy some comfort food and this hot spiced apple cider is just the perfect recipe to start off this season.

Ina’s recipe calls for bourbon, but I’ll be making this without the added distilled spirit. But by all means, if you do want to add bourbon it calls for 2 tablespoons per each mug once the hot cider has been added to your mug. Happy sipping!
